Bariatric Surgery

Northeast Surgery, P.A., in collaboration with Eastern Maine Medical Center, has the most complete, multidisciplinary surgical weight loss program in the state. We have dedicated bariatric nutritionists, support groups, physical therapists, psychologists, and medical sub-specialists who work closely with our highly skilled and experienced surgeons. We offer open and laparoscopic gastric bypasses as well as laparoscopic gastric banding.

Breast Surgery

Our physicians are able to provide a full range of beast care including management of abnormal mammograms and evaluation of breast lumps and nipple changes. We are often able to perform minimally invasive diagnostic studies in the office without the discomfort and inconvenience of open surgery. When surgery is necessary, our surgeons provide up to date procedures including breast conservation surgery for cancer, sentinel node biopsy and skin-sparing procedures to allow immediate breast reconstruction.

Endocrine Surgery

Endocrine glands secrete hormones that regulate body chemistry and activity. Sometimes abnormal hormone levels can be caused by tumors originating from these glands. Abnormalities can cause weight loss, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, pain, and other problems. Only careful testing can determine the cause and proper treatment.

    Laparoscopy

Major surgery does not always mean a major incision. Laparoscopy is a technique that allows procedures to be performed through tiny incisions. Benefits include less postoperative pain, less time in the hospital, and an earlier return to work and play. We offer a full spectrum of laparoscopic procedures including hernias, gallbladders, anti-reflux operations, splenectomies, adrenalectomies, colon resection and weight loss operations.

    Surgical Oncology

Specialized cancer care includes more than the surgical removal of malignant tumors. It requires the co-ordinated care of radiation therapy and chemotherapy to provide the best possible prognosis. The fight against cancer also includes new techniques such as the sentinel lymph node biopsy which can detect cancer spread without major surgery.

    Ultrasonography

Modalities available to the General Surgeon for diagnosis grows as technology improves. Ultrasound invlolves the use of sound waves to image parts of the body, noninvasively and without radiation. The surgeons at Northeast Surgery use this in-office technique which increases diagnostic convenience, speed, and accuracy for our patients.
